Booking Rooms with Views
Clicked from the kitchen window. There is a hibiscus plant growing just outside the window where these sunbirds come to feast. The flowering plants in the garden in clear view of the windows of most rooms are my natural bird-feeders. Thanks to these plants I have some pretty good photos of these beautiful birds to show.
The Purple-rumped Sunbird is just 10 cms. in length. This is a female as distinguished by the ashy-brown top and yellow belly. The males are far more attractive. Usually roam in pairs feeding on nectar and small insects. Has a sharp, pleasant twittering call. Commonly found in the South of the country.
